Bluetwist is a web development, design, hosting and management company set up and operated by Jack Pivac who has been in business since 2004. Based in Dunedin, it specialises in working with small and medium sized organisations throughout the South Island.
Jack Pivac is that rare combination of geek and people person. Passionate about computers – he wrote his first computer program when he was 10 – he is also a personable young man who tends to listen more than he talks. This is an obvious advantage when dealing with clients, as he is able to truly understand what they want their website to achieve.
While still at school Jack received a Royal Society of New Zealand Technology Award at the National Science Fair for a computer controlled waste heat recovery system. The following year he won the Senior Supreme award in the National Brightsparks Competition for a computer controlled silt detection and diversion device.
From repairing computers at home, Jack's business has mushroomed into a fully fledged web development and management company. To keep costs as low as possible for his clients, he works with a team of local developers and businesses. By using the best person available Jack ensures the job is done right and clients get what they need. A second company, Delphinus Technology, an IT consulting / support / sales business, complements Bluetwist’s offerings.
But Jack isn’t all work and no play. He’s an enthusiastic motorcyclist who gets away on his Triumph when the weather allows. He's also a novice sailor and enjoys a spot of surfing and windsurfing.
He owns a five-acre block of land on which he is currently building a house, encompassing eco-friendly and sustainable technologies to take full advantage of Dunedin's ration of sunshine.
